S&W Ready Mix is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician/Low-Boy Operator for the Castle Hayne area.  The primary responsibility of this position is to repair and maintain machinery both electronic and mechanical equipment such as electric motors, pneumatic systems, plumbing systems, conveyor systems, production machines and other plant equipment related to our concrete plant facilities, as well as, safely load and secure equipment to be moved from one location to another such as excavators, Backhoes, Lifts, etc., with the Low-Boy.

Responsibilities

  • Dedication to maintain the highest standard of safety in all aspects of the job.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Strong mechanical skills and the ability to problem solve.
  • Follow established traffic patterns avoiding hazards; promptly reporting any unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices on equipment and in the plant.
  • Perform individual thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections and accurately complete daily mobile equipment reports.
  • Check haul truck vehicle fluids and add fluids as necessary. Grease the truck as required.
  • Responsible for loading & unloading heavy equipment onto trailer, as well as operating the truck and trailer to transport materials and heavy equipment to and from job sites.
  • Able to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and climb to heights of at least 50 feet frequently.
  • Working outdoors with exposure to extreme heat and cold and other outdoor environmental conditions, constant standing and walking, climbing, and working from heights; utilizing fall protection equipment/measures, as well as, other required PPE.
  • Ability to operate equipment, tools and controls, perform repetitive movements with hands, wrists and feet, frequent reaching, climbing (up and down the truck several times a day), stooping, kneeling, crouching, sitting and lifting (up to 75 lbs.).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and listen attentively.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights, weekends, and OT.

Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL and ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Previous dump truck and lowboy experience.
  • Previous heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
  • Able to safely drive a flat bed and/or other commercial vehicles as required within driver license guidelines and with the required driver’s license endorsements.
  • Previous experience doing preventative maintenance inspections and scheduling.
  • Previous welding and fabrication experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical troubleshooting and repair, certification preferred.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Ready-mix industry knowledge or related industry a plus.
  • Must not be limited to Intrastate travel/hauling only.
  • Ability to pass pre-employment processes including criminal background check, DOT physical, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Report.
