Overview

Titan America is currently seeking a Jr. Electrical Engineer to join our Roanoke Cement Plant team located in Troutville, Virginia. This position will support plant electrical systems, automation, and power distribution under the guidance of the Electrical Maintenance Manager and senior technical staff.

 

The Jr. Electrical Engineer will assist in troubleshooting, maintenance optimization, and capital improvement initiatives to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This is a developmental engineering role designed to build technical depth in industrial power and automation systems within a heavy manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in troubleshooting electrical and automation system issues across the plant, including motors, drives, MCCs, and control panels.
  • Support medium-voltage and low-voltage power distribution system maintenance activities.
  •  Assist in programming, modifying, and troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLCs and FactoryTalk HMIs.
  • Help develop and maintain electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Support capital projects related to electrical upgrades, equipment installations, and system improvements.
  • Participate in plant outages by assisting with planning, coordination, and commissioning of electrical work.
  • Assist in implementing predictive and preventive maintenance strategies for plant electrical systems.
  • Ensure plant electrical systems comply with NFPA 70E, NEC, OSHA, and company safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to minimize downtime and improve reliability.
  • Support energy efficiency and process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in root cause analysis investigations related to electrical failures.
  • Maintain documentation, reports, and project tracking records using plant systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred. Associate degree with relevant experience will be considered.
  • 0–3 years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment preferred (internships or co-op experience considered).
  • Foundational knowledge of industrial power distribution systems (480V and above preferred).
  • Familiarity with Allen Bradley PLCs (Studio 5000), FactoryTalk HMI, and basic control systems concepts.
  • Exposure to AutoCAD Electrical or similar drafting software is preferred.
  • Basic understanding of VFDs, motors, and control circuits.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documentation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
  • Willingness to work in a heavy industrial cement plant environment, including occasional support during outages or extended hours as needed.
