We are seeking a highly qualified and dedicated Environmental Director to lead our environmental initiatives at a vertically integrated cement manufacturing company operating across Florida. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, fostering a strong compliance culture, and advancing sustainability principles within our operations.
The Environmental Director will oversee all environmental aspects of our manufacturing processes, focusing on reducing the company's carbon footprint through innovative practices such as the utilization of alternative fuels. The role requires strategic planning, regulatory expertise, and effective management of a team of five Environmental Managers to ensure the company's environmental objectives are met efficiently and sustainably.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental policies aligned with federal, state, and local regulations specific to Florida.
• Lead initiatives to enhance compliance culture across all operational levels, ensuring adherence to environmental standards and fostering continuous improvement.
• Manage and mentor a team of five Environmental Managers, providing guidance, support, and performance evaluations.
• Drive sustainability projects aimed at reducing CO2 emissions, including the adoption and optimization of alternative fuel sources.
• Monitor environmental performance metrics, prepare reports for regulatory agencies, and ensure timely submission of required documentation.
• Collaborate with operational teams to integrate environmental considerations into daily manufacturing activities and strategic planning.
• Stay informed about emerging environmental regulations, industry’s best practices, and technological advancements relevant to cement manufacturing and sustainability.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in environmental management within manufacturing, preferably in the cement or heavy industry sector.
  • Proven track record of leading compliance initiatives and sustainability projects.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Deep understanding of environmental regulations specific to Florida and federal standards.
