Overview

We have an excellent opportunity for a Process Engineer. This exempt position will report to the Process Manager and will be responsible for planning, coordinating and monitoring the operations of plant equipment at Pennsuco Cement to ensure attainment of plant objectives, cost efficiency and adherence to industry safety, security and hygiene standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review and monitor plant operations and analyze problems that compromise production or quality.
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems.
  • Review, analyze and monitor material handling, raw milling, and kiln-pyro operations. Oversee pre-heater kilns, dry cement kilns and coolers to monitor the pyro-process operations, evaluate performance and recommend improvement and/or modification to standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure environmental compliance by reporting, auditing and future planning.
  • Contribute to the company’s variable costs by making process and equipment operation more efficient & effective
  • Conduct process audits, flow measurements, mass & heat balances as and when required
  • Process data validation and verifying accuracy of the process signals
  • Develop budgets and approve expenditures for supplies, materials and human resources. Train personnel in mill and kiln operations.
  • Evaluate operator performance, develop training plans, train and assess operator progress and efficiency; including demonstrating track records for employee training.

Qualifications

  • Must have B.S. Degree in Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years cement operations experience.
  • Knowledge of advance process control e.g. Expert/Fuzzy/ECS systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of rotary cement kiln and milling operations; pyro-processes and interdependency of equipment operation efficiencies and their impact on quality.
  • Strong technical knowledge in process engineering - Combustion, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Crushing / Grinding, Material handling, Refractory etc.
  • Excellent analytical skills – ability to interpret data and propose solutions
  • Application and use of Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs required (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Must possess strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Be safety conscious employee & promote safety through the actions 
  • Bilingual, English and Spanish, is a plus.
