Responsibilities

We have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Planner at our Medley, Florida facility. This exempt position will report directly to the Maintenance Manager. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Manage CMMS asset management system focused on cost control, priorities, on-time completion, and cost allocation.
  • Manage preventative and corrective maintenance schedules and completion for all major pieces of equipment at Pennsuco Aggregates including: crushers, vibrating screens, feeders, screw dehydrators, conveying equipment and draglines.
  • Generate and maintain rolling 18-month forecasts for all major work on equipment. Forecasts should include a complete estimate of cost (turnkey) for each major work event.
  • Coordinate work for mechanical and electrical maintenance supervisors.
  • Responsible for initial screening of incoming work request, identification of scope, and analysis of required level of planning, as well as assignment of WO to maintenance supervisor.
  • Ensures work orders contain estimated labor hours to assist in budget workforce planning.
  • Conduct field walk-downs to identify and document job requirements.
  • Anticipate safety hazards in the performance of the proposed work.
  • Generate SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures), including lock-out/tag-out and safety procedures and ensure they are available to employees. Ensures that all aspects of the existing company safety policy are incorporated into the job plan.
  • Estimate required hours on work order tasks, total work order duration, and skills required for the task.
  • Plan jobs with appropriate level of detail for the given skilled trades workforce.
  • Determine and include QA/QC requirements on jobs.
  • Procure equipment and specialized tools required to perform work.
  • Gather necessary engineering or technical documents, specifications, and drawings.
  • Write clear and concise work procedures.
  • Determine and arranges for parts and tools required to perform the work.
  • Review inventory for parts to be utilized in all projects to increase “wrench time” and maximize efficiency.
  • Compiles information into a job package that is ready for skilled trades – clearly communicates with skilled trades regarding critical steps in the process.
  • Print and delivers Work-Orders to the skilled trades in conjunction with the weekly work schedule
  • Discuss ideas with Skilled-Trades to increase the efficiency of procedures upon completion of projects.
  • Coordinate priority setting with the management team – places specific emphasis on obtaining the input of operations personnel in the setting of priorities.
  • Maintain BOM’s in the system. Audits warehouse min/max quantities for parts ensuring maintenance needs are being met. Identifies and communicates critical spares needs for warehouse inventory to upper management for approval.
  • Accurately measure the maintenance backlog in its various forms, and continually maintain a minimum of 2 weeks’ worth of ready backlog always.
  • Ensure all work orders and maintenance log items are closed when work is finished.
  • Participate in outage planning activities such as scope identification and control, scheduling, coordination, risk assessment, execution, and continuous improvement
  • Communicate with contractor resources directly on specific work orders assigned to the contractors and the performance expectations of the work order. Does not manage the contractors, but ensures that all the details of the work order are clearly communicated and understood.
  • Compile and delivers reports from CMMS regarding the work execution management process.

Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related engineering field.
  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in Skilled-Trades, Aggregates, or Cement industry is preferred.
  • Experience with current EAM/CMMS desirable but not required.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, MS Visio, MS Access, AutoCAD.
  • Self-Directing – Able to work towards specific goals and objectives with limited daily oversight.
  • Highly motivated and committed to safety and teamwork.
  • Ability to learn and apply maintenance best practices.
  • Strong Mechanical/Electrical aptitude.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Able to efficiently perform internet searches and research.
  • Able to read and interpret vendor manuals and drawings
  • Able to communicate clearly and effectively with shop-floor personnel, vendors, OEM suppliers, and management personnel.
  • Able to perform some level of cost analysis and work within a structured budget.
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports.
  • Able to develop and deliver a clear and concise presentation when required.
  • Some level of supervisory experience is desirable.
  • Able to assimilate and embrace change.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of root cause analysis methodology
  • Safety conscious work ethic, always for the protection of self and all others in the work area.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of limestone quarry operations, preferred.
  • Prior heavy equipment experience in a construction or mining environment preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Able to speak, hear, walk, kneel, crouch, climb, crawl, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Capable of working in confined spaces.
  • Ability to perform assigned tasks properly and in a timely manner.
  • Available to work days, nights, and weekends as directed by management.
  • Positive attitude to achieve goals and deliver results individually and in a team environment.
  • Maintain a current Florida Driver’s License and a clean Motor Vehicle Record.
