We have an excellent opportunity for an Engineering Intern with our Aggregates Department located in Medley, FL. This is a part-time, hourly position, reporting to the Quarry Manager or their designee. The position’s work schedule will be flexible to accommodate school needs. The ideal candidate will be able to commit to at least 25-29 hours a week.

Responsibilities

  • Provide survey support with Trimble GPS RTK system and Kespry drone technology for various projects and monthly reports.
  • Work with Production Engineer and/or other team members on Plant projects, requiring both field work and computer drawings on AutoCad.
  • Create and propose full scope of work, budget, and time frame for Dust Suppression System for main haul roads.
  • Auxiliary road surveying, repair and maintenance to create optimal conditions for light and heavy equipment via coordination with Quarry Supervisor and subcontractors to implement proposed budget and design.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned by Management.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with professional decorum.
  • Strong attention to detail with analytical and judgment capabilities to anticipate issues.
  • Ability to work effectively and independently in a team environment.
  • Proficient ability in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Highly motivated to achieve goals and deliver results.
  • Able to read and interpret vendor manuals and drawings.
  • Able to perform cost analysis and work with a structured budget.
  • Able to write detailed reports.
  • Able to proficiently use AutoCad.
  • Commitment to safety and teamwork
  • Ability to organize, plan and execute tasks.
  • Self-Directing; able to work towards specific goals and objectives.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish), preferred.
  • Must feel comfortable working in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
  • Able to walk, stand, climb, kneel and lift at least 20 lbs.
